CHIARA DYNYS
CHIARA DYNYS
Biography
Born in Mantua in 1958, Chiara Dynys lives and works in Milan. Since the beginning of her career in the early 90s, she has been focusing on two main topics, both linked to the same attitude: finding in the reality and in forms the presence of anomaly, of variation, of the “threshold” that allows the mind to step from human to metaphysical scenario. She uses eclectic materials ranging from light to glass, mirrors, ceramics, fusions, fabric, video and photography. The artist rejects any concept of style to freely chose themes and means of expression. She actively involves the viewer in her works almost as an actor, emotionally involved and projected into the space of creation.
Chiara Dynys took part in numerous exhibitions in prestigious institutions, among the solo: Mattatoio, Rome and Museo Correr, Venice (2019), Galleria Civica San Zenone, Campione d’Italia (2017), National Gallery of Palazzo Arnone, Cosenza (2015), Museo Poldi Pezzoli, Milan and National Gallery of Modern Art, Rome (2013), ZKM-Museum fur Neue Kunst (2012, 2009), CIAC, Foligno (2010), Villa Panza, Varese (2009), Palazzo Reale, Milan (2007), Chiesa del Santo Volto di Gesù, Rome (2006), Kunstmuseum, Bonn (2004), Museum Bochum, Bochum (2003), Cantonal Museum, Lugano (2001), Städtische Galerie, Stuttgart (1999), Centre d’Art Contemporain, Geneva (1996). Among the group shows: GNAM, Rome (2014), Museo del Novecento, Milan (2012), MART, Rovereto (2011, 2005), ZKM-Museum für Neue Kunst, Karlsruhe (2009), La Triennale, Milan (2007), Institut Mathildenhöhe, Darmstadt (2003), Kunstsammlungen zu Weimar, Weimar (2002), Scuderie del Quirinale, Rome (2000), Palazzo Reale, Milan (1999), PAC, Milan (1998), Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna, Bologna (1997), Centre International d’Art Contemporain, Montréal (1994), Musée d’Art Moderne, Saint’Etienne (1992), Museu Nacional de Belas Artes, Rio de Janeiro (1989).

Her second personal exhibition “Defragmentation” was held in 2002, accompanied by a conference by Dieter Ronte, director of the Kunstmuseum in Bonn. In 2005 she exhibited in the group show “VISIONI, 20 artists in Sant’Agostino”. Two other solo exhibitions of the artist were organized in 2008 and 2011 in the gallery in Bergamo.
