Galleria Fumagalli presents 7 sign-sculptures created by Mauro Staccioli for the gallery spaces, following the guidelines of his work, which has always been characterized by the close correlation with the place for which every single intervention is conceived. “… I have always tried to capture the place and its time, as well as the people with their stories, signs that can give meaning and strength to the place chosen for my intervention …”, says Mauro Staccioli in 2005.
On the gallery’s ground floor three large rounds in grey concrete are installed, which interact with the surrounding space, while the lower floor is characterized by a 13m-large and compressed shape, made of red cement. In the remaining part of the gallery the artist intervenes with three vertical signs also compressed in space and made of natural cement.
On the occasion of the exhibition, the monograph “Mauro Staccioli” is presented with texts by Luca Massimo Barbero, Marco Meneguzzo and Matilde Marzotto Caotorta, published by Silvana editoriale. The exhibition is organized and coordinated by the Associazione ONLUS di Segno in Segno.
