Describing it is no simple task, as Messaggeri eludes conventional definitions: it is not merely dance, theatre, or music, nor is it Performance Art accompanied by artworks. Rather, it is an experience in which choral music, dance, and visual art merge into a single language, progressively dissolving the boundaries between them.
Maria Elisabetta Novello’s works do not stand as scenography, just as music and song are not merely an accompaniment to the performers’ movements. Matter, body, voice, sound, and movement act simultaneously and mutually shape one another, giving life to a single poetic organism.
