The volume, published on the occasion of Galleria Fumagalli’s participation in Art Basel 2008, features the works of “Golden Section” series, created by Giorgio Griffa in 2006. In these works the artist – exponent of Pittura Analitica – applies color to the rough canvases following the endless irrational number. That number was formalized for the first time by Euclid in the 4th century BC to indicate the calculation according to which, dividing a segment into two parts, the whole is at the major as the major is at the minor. The book is introduced by a text by Giorgio Griffa and is completed by the biographical apparatus.
