CHIARA DYNYS
DUALE

Text
Galleria Fumagalli and Spazioborgogno present “Duale” by Chiara Dynys. The exhibition composed by three videos, one sculpture and fifteen pictures made of lens. It takes its title from the verbal form of the ancient greek that presents, in addition to single and plural, a particular form destined to a relationship of two (persons, things or situations). Two is the theme, that speedily arrives to the idea of “double”, and consequentially to idea of “doubling”, linked paradoxically to the theme of solitude.
The incommunicability, the schizophrenic attitude, the obstinacy of remaining in static positions are manifested in the relation of two, of “dual”, more than in a relation with a multitude or in the solitude. In addition, it can be better manifested in the relationship between objects more than between people: that is why the parallel world of things is the protagonist of Chiara Dynys’ sculpture and lens-works, while people are absent.
In the same way the “connecting vases”, subject of artist’s sculpture, are indeed “not-connecting”. Only in the video, where it is registered Gregory Peck’s imitation in the film “Mody Dick”, declined in Italian and English by the young neapolitan actor Roberto Mascia, the voice and the human postures are the protagonists. However it is underlined the difficulty of the relationship with the reality, and the choice of an unreal mimicry that has a lot to share with the schizophrenic attitude.
