Chiara Lecca’s first show at the gallery “Del maiale non si butta via niente” analyses the role played by animals in contemporary society, using this reflection as a vehicle for investigating human being and his nature and dwelling on the primary instincts and needs that are firstly responsible for their bond. The artist creates close relationships between everyday and childhood objects through organic-derived elements. Playing with the ambiguity of their meanings, the latter elements are decontextualized in order to disorient, and then reinserted in contexts that are unusual or surreal.

Implementing an ironic and at the same time critical reflection on the relationship with the natural sphere, Chiara Lecca establishes an elementary and effective bond with the spectator who is forced to question himself on his own feelings. The gallery ground floor houses the installation Joy Machine #3, an over-dimensioned musical box with moving parts and sound effects. The basement houses a project made especially for this exhibition, entitled Winter Landscape, a mind landscape that was created by making a paradoxical reorganization of elements found in nature (animal skin, bone, salt and marble dust).

Nearby, the installation Rabbit Corporation, which physically invades the space, and to conclude the video Coypu Panties. Chiara Lecca lives and works in Modigliana (FC). Since 2008 she has started taking part in the postgraduate contemporary art training courses at the Fondazione Spinola Banna per l’arte in Poirino, near Turin. Also this year, she was invited to exhibit in the group exhibition Fenstersprung at the PROGR Centre for Cultural Production in Bern, Switzerland. She is also taking part in the No location Relocation – AT Kearney Award, curated by Milovan Farronato at the company’s office in Milan.
