Text
After the solos set in 1996 and 2001, Galleria Fumagalli presents the third solo exhibition dedicated to Enrico Castellani, which includes 20 recent works (from 1999 to 2006). In 1959 together with Piero Manzoni, Enrico Castellani founded the Azimuth magazine and the Azimut gallery, in the very same year in which he made his first extroflection, probing the potential of the canvas surface in maximum tension.
Enrico Castellani created a poetic which is his constant and rigorous stylistic code and developed in the field of extroflection, defining what the critics called “different repetition”. Among the most important and recent exhibitions: the show “Identitè italienne. The art en Italie depuis 1959” at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, 1981. The anthological exhibitions in 1996 at Palazzo Fabroni, Pistoia and in 1999 at the Galleria Civica di Arte Contemporanea, Trento.
In 2001 an important exhibition was set up at Prada Foundation in Milan, curated by Germano Celant, and in 2002 at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge. In 2003 he exhibited at the Vistamare Associazione Culturale in Pescara. In 2005, the exhibition “Enrico Castellani. Variations on the method” was inaugurated at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, while in 2006 he exhibited at the Muzeum Milana Dobeza in Bratislava.
