The exhibition “Architetture 1970-1977 e Opere recenti” dedicated to Gianfranco Pardi, organized by Galleria Fumagalli and Giò Marconi, intends to present to the public a very important series of the artist, Architetture series, and the recent works. In the early seventies, Pardi worked on a series of paintings entitled Architetture, works between painting and sculpture in which elements such as cables and tensors were added and juxtaposed on the painted canvas, showing the forces which go through the work. In 1977 he created Poeticamente abita l’uomo, a rigorous and simple installation that brings into play a survey on the boundaries of the exhibition space.

The work is related to the project conceived by Wittgenstein for his sister’s house built in Vienna, an attempt to translate some aspects of the Austrian philosopher’s thought into visual terms. Pardi constructs an intuitive system based on dimensions and placement, in geometric terms, of the constituent elements of architecture, seeking their measurable meaning, the meaning of becoming a figure in space. On that occasion the artist also presents a series of recent works in the two exhibition spaces of Milan and Bergamo. Some titles of the works explicitly indicate the intentions of the work.

Doppio uno, Trio, Arco, Topos and Ex post are works on topological ambiguity and image slippage. The very recent Emblema and Ex post (after a year of inactivity for health reasons) resume a proactive intent on color and the definition of a possible image. For the occasion, two volumes are published by the galleries Fumagalli and Giò Marconi, one concerning recent works and the other covering the period 1970-1977, with a wide selection of images, critical texts and documents of those years, with an essay by Bruno Corà.
