MAURIZIO NANNUCCI
NEW TIMES FOR OTHER IDEAS / NEW IDEAS FOR OTHER TIMES
The work New Times for Other Ideas / New Ideas for Other Times is a double writing made of blue and red neon tubes, which Maurizio Nannucci designed to be positioned on the facade of Pavilion 3 – a building built in 1923 by architect Paolo Vietti Violi, which is the only surviving pavilion of the exhibition structure of the former Fiera di Milano. Meeting a layout that the artist often uses, the viewer (or more simply the passer-by) faces two almost mirror-like phrases that stimulate a new interpretation of the spatial context and invite to reflect on the idea of newness, of flowing of time, as well as on the contaminations that these concepts generate.
In a place – CityLife – where urban and architectural interventions have changed the skyline of the city, the artist tries to stimulate a reflection on the influences that these changes have on our life and even on our way of conceiving the same reality.
