CHIARA DYNYS
PLEASE DON'T CRY
The exhibition “Please Don’t Cry” at the Galleria Civica in Campione d’Italia consists of a single installation, a work from 2016, re-conceived for this important exhibition. The fundamental element with which Chiara Dynys gave a strong meaning to her work is the light that connects the work itself to the environment. Please don’t cry has fallen into shadows. The light is carried by a set of glass spheres placed on high pedestals, from which a ray starts to touch vertically the ceiling, dotting it with luminescent halos. Each sphere shines internally with golden fragments, but this sense of preciousness and reflection soon contrasts with the message that the artist wants us to reach. The golden shapes contained in the spheres represent the borders of countries close to us and currently or recently engaged in wars or torn by civil wars. In the guise of a compelling beauty, which also involves beyond pure vision, Chiara Dynys reminds us that reality exists with its tragic contradictions.
