L’opera “New Times for Other Ideas / New Ideas for Other Times” è una doppia scritta realizzata con tubi al neon blu e rosso che Maurizio Nannucci ha ideato per essere posizionata sulla facciata del Padiglione 3, un edificio costruito nel 1923 dall’architetto Paolo Vietti Violi che rimane l’unico padiglione superstite della struttura espositiva della sede storica della Fiera di Milano.
Seguendo uno schema più volte proposto dall’artista, lo spettatore (o più semplicemente il passante) si trova di fronte a due frasi quasi speculari che stimolano una nuova interpretazione del contesto spaziale e invitano a riflettere sull’idea di nuovo, sullo scorrere del tempo e sulle contaminazioni che tali concetti generano.
In un luogo, CityLife, in cui gli interventi urbanistici e architettonici sono stati così radicali da aver modificato lo skyline della città e, di conseguenza, la vita quotidiana del quartiere, l’artista prova a stimolare una riflessione proprio sulle influenze che tali cambiamenti hanno sulla nostra vita e persino sul nostro modo di pensare o di concepire la stessa realtà.
