On the occasion of his solo exhibition held at Galleria Fumagalli, Milan, until 18 April, Nudo, mani in alto! Naked, hands up!, Stefano Scheda continues his reflection on censorship of bodies by presenting the performance Scuola Libera del Nudo. On Saturday 14 March the gallery will be transformed into a life drawing academic classroom open to the public with all its traditional tools: easels, tablets, blank papers, charcoals and an “enigmatic model” who will be the subject of the study.

Being performative action a further expression of his artistic language, Stefano Scheda creates a surrealistic scene to focus on standards subversion and on the difference between pornography and art. By re-staging at the gallery a typical atelier of the Scuola Libera del Nudo – an academic class where students exercise in life drawing in front of a nude model and among the founding courses that characterize the historic Italian Academies of Fine Arts – the artist activates new relationships between portraitists, models and the public.

The public is invited to participate in the performance both as an active part and as an observer. Those who want to join it as portraitists will be invited to get naked, both mentally and physically by taking off their clothes. Participation is free upon reservation to be communicated to the gallery, which will provide all the necessary tools (easels, tablets and pencils).
