Marinus Boezem has been invited to take on the task of church warden for the Grote Church, in Veere, Netherlands, and to design the nave according to his own intimate interpretation.
Boezem thus brings the wind inside the church through an installation that softens the architecture of the building with billowing curtains set in motion by rustling, oscillating fans. In the aisle of the church – in the heart of the installation – a long narrow table is placed with a white linen cloth, on which volunteers can sit to embroider the tower that was never completed on the Grote Kerk. As the exhibition continues, the tower, which was never built, will take shape in cross stitches on the canvas.
